I got so lucky on this one. Really lucky, I think.
I was going to set up for the craft show I attended a few weeks ago and walked by this lovely antique shop. I had been to the shop before, but usually they have furniture that is quite a bit older. Anyway, I was walking by the front window and I stopped dead in my tracks. A really cool vintage dresser for only $50. I was definitely thinking it would be priced higher before I saw the price tag.
I jumped for joy and patiently (ha!) waited for the store to open so I could rush in and buy it!
It fits really nicely near my front door and it’ll be a great place to store things and display a few seasonal decorations and other pretty things. I love how the handles are integrated into the drawers, they’re so cool.
I did get a shot of the tag on the back of the dresser. Seems like the company, Fredericia, is still in business and the piece was made in Denmark. If anyone knows any other info on this company or furniture I’d love to hear about it.
It is a very pretty dresser. I also like how the handles are integrated into the drawers. Gives it a modern feel
Cool dresser! I love finds like that. Especially when they are perfectly you. (And the price is right!)
love! those scandinavians sure do know how to make cool furniture.
I have a vintage (antique?) dresser that belonged to my dad’s parents. It’s so sweet, because my grandma had penciled inside the drawers my dad’s and his 2 brothers’ names. Each one had a drawer of his own, and there was a 4th drawer that was divided between the 3 of them, so 3 names inside that drawer. It will always be a treasure to me. I did refinish it… a job I don’t know if I’d ever undertake again! 🙂 But it looks great.
So pretty! Great find!
Oh, you so totally scored! Congrats. I am excited to see how you dress it up.
Ooooo! SCORE! I am totally jealous! :o) That’s EXACTLY the kind of thing I look for when I go thrifting!
Lovely dresser. The company still exists and you can read (even in english) about their work at http://www.fredericia.com (I’m swedish, but keep an eye open for danish stuff…)
Love Danish modern stuff…great find! Congrats! 🙂
Seriously awesome score! Such cute and retro! 🙂
completely jealous! what a score – beautiful storage space is always hard to find.
Beautiful! It is in such good shape for $50. You can’t even find furniture in that good shape at the consignment store.
this is a gorgeous piece!!!
That is really gorgeous and yes you did get lucky!! I can’t find stuff like that for less than $100 around here.
great find! love the built in handles!
That is a really lovely piece. Good snag!
I love it! What antique store was it?
Very mid-century-modern. Love it! As a huge fan of Danish/mid-century furniture, I can confirm that you got a great deal 🙂 Totally jealous!

Get busy with the teak oil!
I have Parker teak chairs and my mum’s advice was to clean them with vinegar and then wipe over and teak oil.
Only $50?! Amazing!!! I love the modern feel of it and those legs…what a great find Anna. Once again, I’m SO jealous.
I was thinking hw Ikea-ish it looked…… is that even a word??? Great score. Lucky you.
Lucky! I love Danish mid-century but my husband does not, so I’m stuck with just one chair and a chest of drawers, so tragic and unfair. And to find such a nice piece (which would clearly fit just right in the nook by our front door) for such a great price too, bonus!
LOVE IT!!! Lucky gal!
Really, really, really lucky! x
Ohhhh, I’m drooling! Love it! I have a dresser that I’m obsessed with that I got for $50 that’s vintage and I smile everytime I see it. You scooped my dear!!!
Gorgeous!
Very cool. Thrifting in California isn’t too easy. If you can actually find something it’s bound to be way over priced. I’ll laugh if you tell me you got this in CA!

Wow! Great piece – and for only $50 is a steal. Looks like a mid-century Danish teak dresser. I love this style too and own a writing desk that I bought from a great store here in Minneapolis called Danish Teak Classics (http://www.danishteakclassics.com/), but it was a lot more than $50!
Anna, that looks a LOT like the dresser I have for Elise! http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t299/sarahrank71506/Pics%20for%20Forum/da698b34.jpg Okay, so maybe not exactly the same. I got it free from the sister-in-law, so no complaints there! It also has a mirror but I was too lazy to find the right screws to put it on, plus it’s so heavy. It’s in our basement now, but eventually, I’d like to attach it.
That is a fantastic dresser!
Great dresser…but I am in love with your plates above. Can you let us know where to pick those up. It looks like a wedding plate and then birth plate…love them! Or email me…I’d love to pick them up.
total score!!! I love it!!
Nice find. I love the dresser
I so found the matching buffet for your dresser while flipping through the pages of “The Nest” magazine!! I forgot what page but I was like “I’ve seen something like that before!”
Great find!!
It is really pretty. Fredericia is actually the name of the city the furniture company is from – so the name is Fredirica Furniture. Fredericia is a breautiful town (my brother lives there) and not so far from Fredericia, there is Trapholt, that is a museum for art, design and handicraft, (http://www.trapholt.dk/?lang=uk), where lots of danish design is featured. Go visit, if you ever comes to Denmark.
Oh, and my spelling is wrong – Fredericia!
I love that kind of Danish furniture. It reminds me of a G-Plan chest of drawers I was looking at on ebay recently. But I’m kind of out of room in my house now so have to stop with the teak collecting…
Oooh – love it.

The plates are from a local rosemaler

wow, such a cool dresser! i would be so excited too. 🙂
There’s nothing more fun than finding just the right piece in an antique store. I always wonder about all the people who have used it before.
so cool! I also love those handles
OMG. That is one beautiful dresser. I love Danish furniture!
