Twill and Leather Yarrow

I know you may have seen a quick glimpse of this sample in the Yarrow Sew-along video or in the pattern itself, but today I’m showing it off in all its glory!

Twill and Leather Yarrow - Noodlehead

So, a couple of the testers (thanks Jordan and Katie!) who helped with the Yarrow both had this brilliant idea of using leather (or other non-fraying textile) as the front pocket and then adding rivets to the pocket. Of course I was smitten! So I had to sew up this sample right before the pattern release.

Cotton Twill

This rust color has to be my favorite of all time, it’s a cotton twill (6.5 oz. Japanese Cotton Twill in Copper) that I purchased from Blackbird Fabrics a couple of years ago (unfortunately is sold out now). I think cotton twill is a great option for this project – you can find it at many shops and it usually comes in a lot of great colors!

The front pocket is a scrap of my Pebble Copper from my shop. I had listed some scrap packs of leather in my shop, but they’re almost all sold out now! I plan to try to continue adding more to the shop soon so please check back. And of course the rivets add that perfect finishing touch! Here’s my blog post about rivets, it includes links to shops where I’ve personally bought from and tools.

I lined this with a gorgeous print by Jeanne McGee (for Cotton + Steel) I had picked up from Cottoneer a while back. I love this abstract design! The zipper is zipper-by-the yard from My Handmade Space.
