Just Because Giveaway

[This giveaway is now closed, thank you to all who entered!]
I haven’t done a giveaway in so long! I felt like it would be fun to put together a few packages and help make the winter seem a little more bright! Brightening someone else’s day always makes me feel better. I had fun putting together four little bundles of fun, plus a bonus scrap package! Plus, it’s Valentine’s Day and super warm here, so why not?!

Each bundle contains a hunk of fabric, and either my book/booklet/or pattern plus a set of leather handles. So four winners will each get fabric, a book or pattern, and a set of leather handles! Also, my scrap bin is overflowing, so I figured a box filled with random fun sewing things would be a fun little surprise, too.

To enter:

  • Open to anyone in the US or Canada (I’ll catch you next time around international readers).
  • Leave one comment. For fun, tell me, what other hobby or fun thing you do for yourself besides sewing or crafting?
  • Giveaway closes Sunday, February 18th at 10 p.m. CST. Giveaway is now closed! Winners will be contacted via email.

And I wanted to take a moment to say how grateful I am to those who stop by my blog and leave a comment. Blogging has certainly changed over the years, but please know that I thoroughly enjoy everyone who comments on my posts. It’s especially been refreshing to hear from you on posts like this and this. Thank you!

That is a wonderful giveaway. Thank you for your generosity. I love to sew and quilt but also do wood working projects either from scratch or remake mainly for my family. I was a big hit when I made the tents you blogged about years ago for my grandsons…made them quilts to go inside too. All my besties have been gifted a bag sewn from your patterns. You have definitely contributed mightily in my creative endeavors. Thank you.

  39. Becca G says:

I have really enjoyed reading your blog & seeing your journey progress. It fills my heart to read about the transformation of your building. Been there, many years ago ,
it’s a lot of hard work but well worth it.
When I can figure out a way to download it
I want to get the backpack pattern . It looks like a well thought out versatile pattern that will come in handy when I need to bring more than a hand bag will contain plus it looks cooler than a tote bag.
Other than sewing (quilting, home deck & clothing). I like to remake & repurpose furniture, upholstery, stripping, staining & painting. I’m having a second go round with my kitchen cabinets now. They were originally a dark wood that I primed & painted gloss white. Now all the bottom cabinets have been stripped & will be primed & painted gloss red. I’m leaving the top ones white though.
I also enjoy a bit of gardening both flowers & vegetables, as well as reading fiction & non fiction.
My kids are grown now so I finally have time to do the things I enjoy without feeling guilty.

  40. Pam says:

  43. K. Grace Sheppard says:

  47. whitney marie says:

What an amazing giveaway! I love to cook and really lose myself in a recipe. It doesn’t happen very often now that I have a super active toddler (most nights it’s just a rush to get dinner over with), but occasionally I do get the opportunity to cook something new and exciting.

  59. Jae Lee says:

Thanks for hosting a cool giveaway! When I’m not sewing (or reading) I like trying new recipes. I’m currently on a macaron kick, which can be stressful, since the same recipe can come out 3 different ways depending on a constellation of not-necessarily-in-your-control factors.

Love your designs & have a copy of your book already! I’m a knitter at heart, although I do enjoy basic sewing & quilting. Since then I have been in a knee brace awaiting surgery and unable to ski or do much else outdoors. They are, by far, the most reliable, easy to fix, and easy to use/useful machines ever made. Besides collecting sewing machines, I am always hunting down vintage Hawaiian fabric from the 50’s and 60’s – VHY, Alfred Shaheen, THC, etc. You gotta have great fabric to sew with! (my next project is sewing your backpack, using some bright Hawaiian print to accent it) Nice giveaway…great stuff!

Oh this is so fun. I’ve been intimidated to sew bags like this, but having the supplies on hand would certainly push me to do it.

I love to go for mini roadtrips with my family. My husband and I used to go to yarn shops around the twin cities and hit up a new (to us) Chipotle at the same time. We always get special drinks and a bag of Funyuns to make it official. Now we get to go less frequently and instead go to parks with playgrounds.

I also love to read. But so many things I love to do revolve around my crafting, like listening to audiobooks while I knit or spin yarn. But even that getting hard to do since I now have a 3mo, and he has 3 older siblings 😉

Thank You for the chance to win your book and leathers! Sewing and gardening are my two favorite things to do. I sew at night and when the weather is cold and iffy and then I am out playing in the dirt. Last year I became a Master Gardener so I am spending more time out in the community, volunteering. We Master Gardeners go into primary schools to help children plant and participate in the growing of flowers and food. We help the community with identifying what type of plant they have or pest and diseases. We just recently helped build garden beds for the boys and girls clubs to help them grow vegetables this year. The past two months I have feverishly been sewing bags for the BOM club. I also just finished my third caravan tote!

I can’t wait to see what’s next.

I’m just learning to sew again so I suppose that makes it my “other” hobby. I can’t handle being trapped inside all winter so I cross country ski (both skate + classic) when it’s warm enough. It’s been really cold this year with long stretches below -25C so learning to sew seemed like a warm hobby. Thanks.

Due to a recent diagnosis, I am unable to work anymore as I tire so easily, but I am advised to keep as active as possible. I decided to return to sewing after 20 years and now I have become obsessed with it. If only there were more hours in a day! My main other activity is walking dogs every week at our local shelter. You would think it would be to help the dogs stay active and know they are loved, but it has the reverse affect. I have never felt more loved in my life!

I like to bike, currently am trying to get in some cycling indoors so that come nice weather I can be faster then my husband. I may be just a wee bit competitive.

  864. Amber says:

    Hi there,
Wow, what a lot of fun comments! I needed a creative outlet that I can do in hotel rooms while traveling for work so I’ve been teaching myself to paint and draw. I never would have thought I could do this, but practice makes perfect! I can’t believe how much better I am 6 months later and how much fun I’ve had. I do miss the sewing though!

  865. Maggie says:

Longtime reader here..love your work! As for me, I love to try new recipes and learn new techniques along the way, whether it’s learning about different meringues or hand-shredding brussels sprouts for a fluffy slaw-style salad. There are so many instructional videos out there too, I am so grateful for the generous people out there who share their knowledge with us for free!

  866. Bonnie says:

I’m late in seeing your post for the give away. Trying to learn how to put in a zip correctly over at Craftsy. Would love some new fabric to work with. Saw your new studio….WOW! Your are surely blessed!
