Today the new issue of Making: FAUNA is available! I’m excited to be a part once again. In the last issue my Petal Pouches were included (you can now find the pattern for them here) and I’m happy to have this Wool + Wax Tote pattern in the new issue, Fauna.

[The Wool + Wax Tote is now available as a stand-alone PDF pattern here, or as part of a printed booklet of 3 patterns here.]

If you’ve been reading here long enough, you’ll notice this is based on the tote I made earlier this year for my mom’s birthday present. And of course you already know that I love a basic tote! If I go anywhere further than a local trip I always bring a basic tote with me. I like to pack up a sketchbook and my notebook, a bunch of brush pens and pencils, books, magazines, and whatever else to keep me entertained. I like keeping things separate rather than trying to stuff things into my purse. Of course it’s great to use as your main purse as well, just depends what you like!

I loved playing with these materials together. The wool for the main tote was one I purchased from Drygoods Design a while back, the waxed canvas I purchase mainly from AL Frances Textiles, and the leather handles are available in my shop. I really enjoy using these timeless materials that I know will stand the test of time as well as being something that is season-less and can be worn throughout the year. Of course feel free to mix up the materials to your liking, but I do encourage you to try something new perhaps. A nice canvas is always a great option for totes, the black sample is a super sturdy canvas.Making: Wool + Wax Tote - Noodlehead

I’m excited that I have a few copies of Making for sale in my shop (they’re sold out now, but watch for the next Making issue to arrive!). I don’t have many and last time Making magazine as a whole sold out rather quickly I think! It’s available only in print, so that makes it kind of fun and special, too. Of course there are many other great projects in the magazine as well. There are knitting projects, crafts, embroidery, all from makers that you probably already know. I’m honored to have contributed this small part.

I can’t find this magazine in the UK, are you planning on releasing this as a PDF? I’ve made a lot of your bags and this is my favourite one yet!

Hi Heidi, it’s just been released today, so possibly your local yarn or craft shop might get it in? The tote will be a PDF, but not until March of next year.

Hello Heidi… just about to leave a comment on Anna’s gorgeous bag, and saw your comment. You may have found a copy by now, but if not I have ordered Fauna from Loop. I think tangled yarn are stocking it too…

Hi. I would love to get the handles for the bag. What length handles are used? Thanks!

    1. Anna Graham says:

      Hi Sandra!
I used the 1″ wide by 28″ long on these totes. I’m working on restocking them, so if the color you’d like is out of stock hang in there. I hope to have more listed tonight. 🙂

    1. Anna Graham says:

Hi Susan, sorry about that! It’s in my shop (linked up on the top navigation bar), but I’ll correct/add a link in this post as well. Thanks for letting me know!
