Market Bag in Lore

Market Bag / Handmade Style by Anna Graham, fabric is Lore by Leah Duncan

Happy Friday everyone! It’s always fun to end the week with a fun finish. This is the Market Bag (pattern in my book Handmade Style) that I made a while back for Cloud9 fabrics. It’s made using Leah Duncan‘s beautiful upcoming collection with Cloud9 called Lore. It’ll be shipping to stores in March, which actually feels like it’s just around the corner crazily enough. And there’s also a separate voile collection called Yucca (coming in April) – cannot wait to nab some!

I’ve been a huge fan of Leah‘s work for a long time. I still am hoarding her first collection with Anthology fabrics – Maya. I have managed to use some bits and pieces, but it’s so pretty on my shelf – in due time I suppose. I wish I could remember how I found her work originally, but I do remember seeing her pictures on Flickr back in the day.

Anyway, now that I’m done drooling over fabric! The Market Bag is such a pretty fit for these fabrics and colors. It’s always fun to see how fabrics transform when quilted and I love the texture it adds in this bag (see another version I made here, plus the one shown in the book).

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Love this bag – it is on my bucket list to do this year! I am not familiar with voile, I hear about it but not sure what type of sewing project it would be used in. Any suggestions? Thanks?

@Jeanice, voile is a lightweight cotton that is used a lot for apparel – it makes wonderful blouses and dresses! I use it all the time and love it – it’s actually better suited for apparel than quilting cottons, since it’s drapier. You can find it in brick-and-mortar stores, but the biggest selection is online.

Beautiful bag! I have made this tote and the pattern is wonderful — the bag is one of my favorites.

Just picked up a copy of your book today. I’ve been eyeing it for a while and can’t wait to get started on a project. It may take a while to decide which one though. Thank you for posting so many different versions of all your projects, it really helps me to visualize it in different fabrics.
