It’s quilting fever over here! Now that the weather here is finally back to it’s fairly cold November self, of course I’ve been thinking quilts. I was so happy that Nancy asked me to join in on a blog tour for her new book Quilting From Every Angle. I’ve followed Nancy‘s work (@owensolivia on instagram) for quite a while and really admire how she has a lovely distinct style. And when I found out she was writing a book, that makes it even more fun! I love seeing a large chunk of work from an artist, and a book is the perfect showcase.
I had several of the quilts bookmarked and I really enjoyed reading about the inspiration from each one as well as the opening chapters on technique. There are so many unique designs that range from fairly straightforward to more complicated and challenging. I really enjoyed all the thorough diagrams within the instructions, there are many for each pattern, so it’s really nice to have a visual to go along with the written instructions.
Finally settled on the Colorblock quilt. I can’t even tell you how many fabric pulls I did! So many! But that’s the fun part for me anyway. This is the one I finally settled on and am really happy with the results. I can totally see myself making more for baby gifts and I think it’ll be fun to explore more color options, too! I love that this is a fairly classic design with a fun twist. I think if I were to make it again I would choose more solids/semi-solids for the majority of the quilt, but I really like these colors. Can’t wait to quilt this one up, it’s always a fun transformation.
I think I might just have to try the Sequoia quilt from the book next. Probably another opportunity to do some fabric shopping!

I’m working on a Harry Potter quilt for my daughter-in-law.
I am mostly making bags for Christmas. I have already finished a Poolside Tote and have plans for a couple of your divided baskets, plus the new Grainline Stowe bag. I have a slew of backlogged clothing items for myself, but I am so much better at getting excited and finishing things when they’re gifts!
I’ve wanted to make a quilted tree skirt for Christmas & I’ve got the fabric in hand. Now I just need to finish the knitted tree skirt I’ve been working on & then move on to the sewn one!

I’m working on a French Roses soft edge applique quilt for my daughter and a drawstring backpack for another daughter. I’ll probably end up doing a few pillowcases and pillows to match the quilt, too. I have some crochet and knitting that I need to do for a new grandbaby due around the first of the year, too.
I’m sewing small pouches for my colleagues with a handmade lipbalm and a pack of funny tissues inside 🙂

I would love to win a copy! I love the mini quilt that you made. Amazing! I just finished a couple of makeup cases from Handmade Style to give as Christmas gifts. I am working on a couple of quilts. One is from a pattern called Haute Ziggity and the other is a free tutorial called the Wanta Fanta block. I would be overjoyed if I finished them by Christmas. I am tired of my legs sticking out of the baby quilts that I pretend are lap quilts.

I love your quilt. Log cabins have always been one of my favorites. I’m not working on any projects for Christmas, but right now I’m sewing all kinds of things for a crafts show I’m doing next month.
Beautiful! I love the cover quilt! I am making a Christmas quilt for myself and my husband with the Christmas Story fabric. It is a tribute to my father in law who passed away a few years ago. He loved the movie, and so do me and my husband. I’m going to add in some of his flannel shirts into the quilt top! I’m very excited about it! I’m also making a bunch of rice hand and neck warmers as gifts. I like to make as many gifts as I can, and practical things are what I like to make the most.
I’m making my twin daughters two fairy tale houses with little fairytale characters to go inside. My son I’m quilting a car mat pannel and adding some pockets to store cars and my 8 month old girl I’m not entirely sure yet!!
I will be making a handbag for a friend and then some new Christmasy decorations for the house.
I am making a bunch of lap quilts (some are done) as well as some smaller things like pillows and bags. I just love giving gifts that I have sewn.

I have a bunch of quilts that I am working on at the same time, but I am thinking of making quilted casserole carriers and quilted oven mitts as gifts. Maybe etch the family’s name in a 9 x 13 glass dish and include it with a recipe and wooden spoon. My stove and microwave died, so I really don’t have any money to Christmas shop. Besides, I love doing homemade gifts, even if it’s just a soup-in-a-jar.

Making a small tree skirt for the rosemary tree that will sit on my sofa table and I’m making pillowcases for all the kiddos on my list!
For Christmas gifts I am going to make a variety of the bins from your book with the leather handle. Different color combos for different people. Winter is sewing time but I am leading a leathercraft session for 15 kids in the local 4-H group next Friday so I think it is going to give me the leather bug again too.
I love how the prints in your quilt each add a different visual texture but still harmonize. Your work is all ways inspiring and challenges me to reach for a higher level. Thank you so much for sharing.

I am currently working on a quilted bento bag for my knitting craft project.
I am working on a big Christmas quilt following Kathy Doughty’s Sunburst pattern. The top is finished, but – I wanted to back it with cotton teddy and now I don’t know whether I should add wool batting to make it even warmer for the cold season or if that would be too bulky.

As I’m a newbie in sewing, I want to make so quilt bags for toys.
Love the log cabin – it’s always been my favorite. I am making mini log cabin ornaments for family and friends. They’re just a 3 or 4 inches and sew up quick, I love that I get to play with so many fabric combos – it’s given me inspiration for a couple full size quilts.
Love your version of this quilt, Anna! Your style is always so pleasing! I’m not working on any Christmas sewing, but I am working on several baby quilts and on a comfort quilt for a friend who had major surgery.

We don’t exchange gifts for the holidays but I make things throughout the year for friends and family….just because 🙂 I love making bags and Noodlehead bags are my favorite so my friends all have two or more Noodlehead bags they use daily. I finished making 17 drawstring bags that will be filled with toiletries for the local women’s shelter. This is the third year I have helped my friend Ellen with this project.
I need to finish a quilt for my daughter who started college this fall. She says it is cold there!
This is my first year quilting and my goal was to have quilts for all close fan members by Christmas. I have 4 completed and 4 more in the works!
I’m making a gorgeously vibrant dress (I never wear them usually) for my niece’s big wedding on New Year’s Eve,here in Australia. It’ll be HOT, so I’m having to line a patterned cotton voile(coooollll) with a plain voile…2 dresses!! It’s the first family wedding in 3 years (our son’s was the first one of the cousins), so we’re going to have a great get-together from many different states.
My only must-sew is a stocking for the new husband who somehow made it this far in life without one. After that, as many zipper pouches as I can reasonably accomplis with my sanity intact.
I am making some cushion covers with Elizabeth Hartman’s kitten and fox patterns for some tween cousins. I’d love to find time to make a new dress for my daughter and a bucket hat for my son using fabric they have both picked out too.

I am working on a quilted Christmas tree skirt for one of my sisters. I actually intended to make it 2 years ago, but waited too close to Christmas and couldn’t find the right Christmas fabric. But this year! For my other sister, I’m making a Super Tote with Doctor Who fabric. I made her a basic tote bag several years ago as a bridesmaid gift and she needs a new one. I can’t wait to try the pattern! All my bags thus far has been self-drafted (and basic) and I’m so excited to have someone else tell me what to do!
I’m working on a quilt for my eldest brother, a couple of christmas dresses for my daughters and I’m hoping I get time to also finish my eldest daughter’s quilt.
I haven’t started on Christmas yet ~ tho I do have lots of ideas. At the moment, I’m finishing up a quilt I started about 5 years ago ~ it’s a 2′ hexagon with 960 hexes in it. Took the thread and paper out yesterday and getting ready to sandwich it for quilting. Pretty excited about it!

Quite honestly, I’m not working on anything for Christmas this year. I’ve found that it gets harder and harder for me to give gifts I’ve made to people who won’t appreciate them. That being said, we are getting ready to buy our first house, and I am gearing up to sew all sorts of fun home dec items for that.

My daughter set me a large stack of Laurie Wisbrun’s polar bear fabric two years ago, maybe three. That’s what I will be feverishly putting together so the quilter has time too!
