Lisette 2246 in Swish

I knew this fabric needed to become a shirtdress. The unbleached basecloth feels so amazing and soft and I think it has just the right feel for a garment with a little structure. I had made this pattern before using View B. I figured I might as well try adding the View A collar to it. You know, mix it up a little!

This pattern (Simplicity Lisette 2246 by Liesel Gibson) really is lovely, everything came together so nicely. The thing about this collar is that it’s all-in-one. There’s no separate collar stand. That makes it really beginner friendly, so if you think this type of garment might be out of your skill set, you might want to reconsider.  There also isn’t a traditional cuff on the dress, it’s a simple double turn hem. Makes everything super speedy. I always like the look and feel of rolled up sleeves, so it’s nice to not to have to hide all that work of a tailored cuff by doing so.

Next time I’ll remember the correct seam allowance, as this one ended up too snug for my liking. I really wish I would have spent a few more seconds calculating the width of the french seams I was doing. If I were to make one to wear without leggings or jeans underneath I would definitely add a few inches (it’s called a dress on the envelope back, but it’s quite a bit shorter than View A). Comes with the territory I guess, always something to try for next time!

Anyway, I hope all this talk of my own fabric isn’t a snooze fest. I really couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed sewing with it. I’m not sick of it yet either, which was something I was afraid of. So anyway, I hope you enjoy seeing the finished projects, I still have a few more to show and talk about! Hope you’re enjoying August!!!

Pattern: Simplicity Lisette 2246, View B with collar from View A
Fabric: Rain Walk in Swish (orange – which I really consider more of a
rust or cinnamon color, you know, because it’s fun to name colors)
