Patchwork Bench Rain Walk

I think I’ll go ahead and admit that this bench project (Patchwork Bench from my book Handmade Style) is one of the most favorite things I’ve made. It’s a project that gives me so much satisfaction in seeing the finished product. Knowing that I made it with my own two hands from the ground up gives me a huge sense of accomplishment every time I see it.

This is the Patchwork Bench project from my book. I hope I see a few finished ones popping up around soon! I’d love to see your take on it. Please don’t be intimidated by this project. I promise you’ll love making it. Most home improvement stores can cut the plywood needed for this project to the correct size right in the store. After that a bit of elbow grease and a drill will take you far.

Anna, you are my hero! I keep telling my boyfriend that I want to build and upholster all my own furniture one day, and he thinks I’m crazy. 🙂 This is a great project to get your feet wet. Thanks for sharing your sources and for such an inspirational project. I keep waiting for your book to show up in one of my local bookstores!

That bench looks fabulous. What type of fabric is the gray fabric used on the sides? What a unique piece of furniture! Bravo!

  4. Sandra says:

OOps! I see you’ve said it was reverse denim on the sides. Sorry I missed it.

I love this! I’m a buyer for a craft store in the SF Bay Area and we just got your book in. I’ve already made a 2-zip gingham tote and am planning on making more. I’ve never posted project pics to Flickr but I will try to get one up soon.

Thanks for your comment. I believe the wood for this bench featuring Rain Walk was maple, but I added a walnut stain on them. Hope that helps! So glad you like my work. 🙂

        Dear Anna,
thank you very much. This information helps me a lot. Now I’m only waiting for my ordered fabric and than we can start 🙂
