Gingham Tote: Handmade Style

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to re-visit several projects from my book, Handmade Style and make a few more samples. So now the book is out, I can share them here! Originally, I spend a big chunk of time working on this particular bag when finalizing the design. I tried out several that I was curious about, but this one was what I landed on. In the book there are two versions, this double zip with pocket version and a rounded pocket with zip version. Mostly because I liked them both and couldn’t make up my mind!

I loved making this bag, I knew it would be one I could use myself! Most of my projects from the book are stored neatly away. If I were to use one of the bags I know it wouldn’t be long before it would be beat up and full of crusty stuff. I’m definitely not careful with my bags – they take a ton of abuse. And I’m okay with that. I love the large pocket with the two smaller zip pockets in front. It’s so handy!

Alison Glass‘ Handcrafted for the front pocket seemed like a must-use choice. I have a bunch of Handcrafted stashed away, it’s all so pretty. It paired so well with a bit of denim and keeping the lining pretty neutral. I’ve been using the bag for a couple months now and admit that I love how functional it is. I always enjoy a bag where I have certain spots for each item, keeps me feeling organized even if the rest of my life isn’t feeling it!

Oh, and let me know if you’d like to see some inside shots of my book. UPDATE: (see post for more info) I know Amazon, etc. has some preview pages, but I didn’t want to be all in your face about things.

Chipping in to say yes – more about the inside of the book! Just from the Amazon preview, it’s really hard to get a sense of the projects that are included. I’ve been looking for a great diaper-bag-replacement pattern with inside pockets, but wouldn’t have guessed that this was in your book.
