my Sailor Top

sailor4

I have a Creativebug membership. I think they have a bunch of great resources and produce really high quality videos that I can learn a lot from. When I saw that Fancy Tiger Crafts was making projects for a class they’d be doing on Creativebug I was so excited! I couldn’t wait to make the Sailor Top. I know I’ll wear a pretty top, throw it on with some jeans and I’m set.

I loved watching the videos, Amber and Jamie are so awesome. Super genuine and talented ladies. And we’ve never met in person, but I hope to some day. Just by watching them you can tell they have immense passion for sewing and knitting.

The Sailor top went together really painlessly. Lots of great notches to align and make it really easy to assemble. I did however write down my own measurements wrong (or maybe I have a faulty tape measure in the bunch) but I made a size Small – duh me.  It fits pretty snug, especially in the chest area, but I’m definitely wearing it. I adore this fabric.  It’s a lawn/voile that I had gotten from Miss Matatabi a while back. The teeney butterflies kill me. So immediately after I finished this one, I printed out the pattern again and cut the medium size, now just deciding what fabric to use!!! The exciting part!!

Fancy Tiger Crafts also had a blog tour that coincided with the paper version of the pattern that was also released. I’d love to get me hands on a copy of that and look forward to seeing more of their patterns in print!

I’ve been eyeing up this pattern like mad, I hadn’t realised there was an online class 😀 I just want to ask is the pattern a fabric eater? I can’t seem to find any info about the fabric requirements online.

Hey Sarah! It only uses 2 1/2 yards I think, so not bad at all in my opinion. It’s such a flattering style too. 🙂

  7. We just saw this and we love it! Nice work and thanks so much for trying out the pattern and sharing it.
