I am so in love with my Josephine top. I was able to be a pattern tester for Rae, hope I was a little help anyway. The fit is just spot on and I love how Rae makes it easy to really get a great fit with the elastic and casing at the back. You just adjust the elastic before the final side seam and boom! super fit!
This flowy black rayon challis grabbed my eye. I knew the black (even though it’s more fun to sew with a flashy print sometimes) would be something I would wear a lot. I’m not even making this up you guys, but this top is the comfiest top I’ve ever made. And I feel beautiful in it. I think that says a lot about the overall design and fit.
I chose to add shirring at the sleeves like Rae had done on this top she made. I knew I would like that look and fit, and I do! The sleeve length is just perfect on me.
Okay, I’ll chat a little bit of what I love about the pattern and then you can go about on your Friday fun. Rae has a lovely list of seam finishes with complete step-by-step details. She also suggests a finish or two for each seam (which I love, just takes the guess work out of it, you know?). It’s got amazing tips throughout and even a cheat sheet for when you want to sew up another Josephine. There are also three style variations, so I’m sure you can find one you like (or many!). Whew. It’s a good one, real good. Sorry to sound like an infomercial, I seriously do love it.
