Sunny Side Up Quilt Pattern

So I designed a quilt pattern for Quilty!  Yep, stepped out of my bag designing comfort zone and made the Sunny Side Up quilt.  Super honored to be able to share this in a publication.  I first started thinking about this quilt when I made a stamp for a fabric swap I participated in a few years ago.  I love the simple design, but it yet feels really fresh and happy.

I also couldn’t get the yellow and white idea out of my head, and thought like they looked like eggs somehow, so Sunny Side Up it is. It’s a pretty large quilt, finishing over 71″ x 92″, but I’m glad to see it come to life!  It’s very cheery for this gray and cloudy time of the year. The design is pieced, so there are lots of opportunities to practice piecing curves, you’ll be a pro in no time!

I had a great time quilting this quilt, too.  When I got to hang out with friends at a sewing weekend over the summer, Holly was nice enough to let me use her machine after I got my machine’s tension majorly messed up.  Thanks Holly!  It was fun to be able to share that quilt with those friends.

And a huge thank you to Mary Fons and Quilty!  Hurrah!

The new Quilty issue is available here (it’s available as a digital download), a paper copy here, or pick up a copy at your local bookstore or favorite shop to buy magazines!

Oh and thank you to my official quilt holder, my husband who was surely just finishing cracking a joke.

I got that issue of quilty on November 9th and my mom was immediately drawn to your quilt. When I actually got time to read the issue I thought to myself hey I know that name from somewhere and then I saw it was the Anna of Noodlehead and I was even more excited to make it. I’m a longtime lurker and I’ve made a few of your patterns and I love this quilt.

  32. Really cute and so soft in those eggy colours!

  33. It’s lovely! I adore it! As I learn more about quilting, I will keep this one in mind for sure!

  34. Great pattern. Love it and in fact bought the magazine (which I rarely do) just to procure the pattern without knowing you were the designer. Nice job. πŸ™‚
