It’s full of sweet:
and funny:
(oh mom, I laughed so hard when I read the shopping cart one) not because I’m an offender, but because I’m always the shopping cart returner, even the ones waaaayyy out in the corner of the parking lot.
and useful:
and memorable pieces of advice:
What a fun gift this would be to pass along to any soon-to-be parent or parent.
Now for the fun part, wanna win a copy for yourself? I’m excited to be giving away a copy!

What a fun book! Thanks for the chance to enter!

One of the biggest pieces of advice I learned to be true is when you’re expecting a new baby… People are full of advice, listen respectfully but TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS!!! Always speak up and never do anything you’re uncomfortable with where your children are concerned. Whether is at your pediatricians or a stranger wanting to touch your 1 week old baby in public. Your gut seems to be in full drive when you’re a new parent =)

  3. I think the one piece of advise I would share with my children is to never compromise. I was told that when I was in my teens and it has been the most valuable piece of advise. Would love to win this book!

I think the best advice would be to treat others the way you would like to be treated. (the golden rule) Seems like in this world not everyone remembers this old and very important rule. 🙂

Love the book… Would LOVE to win.. but if not … WHERE can I get it??

    What a great book.
One thing I recently was given advice about was to not let life pass you by. It’s inevitably going to happen, but hold on to everything..
My grandma also told me to take pictures of everything.. even though they say that if you really like something that’s happening you’ll always remember.. is not true. Take pictures of the good memories, those are the only ones worth remembering.

Something I always tell my boys is to always think first on what they are going to do or say…if they think it would hurt them..then don’t do it because most likely it would hurt the person you were going to say it or do it to…

And as boys I always tell them to ask mom anything about girls…( she can tell you best cause she IS ONE hahaha )

    Hugs and God Bless,

    ^A^ngel♥

Love the looks of this book! I’d like to see the rest of #82. 🙂

My best advice: Always wear closed-toed shoes when you ride a bike.

My dad always told me this & 4 years ago when I was getting ready to go on a ride with my husband, I literally heard my dad’s voice in my head as we started to leave & I was wearing flip flops. I listened, went back in the house & changed into tennis shoes. On our way back home, I hit a rock on the path, my foot went into the spokes of the bike, and I flipped over the handlebars. Had I not changed into tennis shoes, I would have lost toes, so I will never, EVER forget that advice!

That’s a lovely book, I’ll make sure to get my hand on a copy if possible!
    My advices :
    1. No matter what… do your best cause that’s the most you can do!
    2. If Mom gets on your nerves, don’t worry too much it’s in her job descriptions to do so, only means she loves you.

  18. “If you mess up, clean up”, but it pertains to when you make a mistake and feel badly about it, ie. hurt someone’s feelings, make a bad decision etc. The jist is, that since you can’t change what happened, now you can do your best to fix it or make ammends.

  19. HandMade says:

What a lovely book! I wish I could buy it here in Sweden! My adwise would be that it´s never too late to make up for bad decisions. If you make a bad one when you are young you van always make up for it later. I know! I took up my studies again and now I’m an engineer. (But it may cost you more 😉 )

    My email is mariaolsson007_at_gmail.com

I would love a copy. My advice is ‘you can always receive advice but you don’t always have to heed it’ 🙂

  22. Riley says:

I would pass along the advice my parents gave to me as a child.
My Mom always told us to “love the unlovely”. And the famous advice from my Dad “When you do stupid things, stupid things happen”.

  23. Elsa says:

I love this book! advice? Never judge a book by it’s cover. I love this ~ I have friends today that I normally wouldn’t have because of this advice! my Dad was a very wise man and he told me this often.

I love the quotes you posted. What a great gift this would make!

  25. JenFink says:

Everyone should learn the difference between yield and merge.

  27. Marisa says:

That looks like a lovely book! I’m a stickler about my kids chewing with their mouths closed. Really…no one wants to watch you (or HEAR you) chew your food.

  28. syocom says:

Hey that is a cool book. One thing I will share with my kids is basic sewing and swimming I think both are essential.

  29. I would LOVE to win that cute little book.
The advice I want my kids to learn the most is to treat others how you would like to be treated. The Golden Rule is the most important to me.

  35. Jennifer says:

What a lovely looking book – full of practical advice. An elderly lady said to me, just after giving birth to my first child, – Pick your battles, if what they are doing is only annoying, does not harm them or others then let them enjoy the moment they are learning their way… I’ve used this with each of my children

  36. Kacey says:

Well, she already has my trademark fashion advice, “Leggings are not pants.” (Many girls appear to be confused on this topic!)

So…I’ll go with “Do something you love everyday.” So many people get caught up in the things they have to do, they neglect to do the things that make them happy.

One piece of advice that I was given a while back was…Never loan money to people. If you are willing to give a person money to use, then do not expect it back. Consider it a gift and your feelings will never be hurt if you aren’t repaid.
This has saved many hurt feelings and has sparred relationships that could have been damaged.

  55. ashley says:

What a lovely book. It seems to have some good advice. One piece of advice/rule we had growing up was that whoever cooked the dinner, wasn’t responsible for the cleaning of the dishes at the end of the night. It’s a nice way to thank someone who slaved over a hot stove for you. My husband is teaching our boys to do the same!

What a wonderful book. I love what you’ve shown from this book.

The one piece of advice I have always given my own children is to ALWAYS remember that your family should be treated well because friends will come and go but family will ALWAYS be there. And further I added to that was that when the going gets really tough, no matter what your family will always be there for you.

  149. Allie says:

That is such a great book!

The piece of advice that I would like to give to expectant mothers (being an expectant mother myself), is to be honest with these soon to be mom’s about pregnancy and childbirth. I think it may seem scary or discouraging, but it will better prepare them for any issue that may arise. They can look back and say “oh yeah, my friend told me this might happen and that’s ok”. And after giving said honesty, always remind them that it’s totally worth it!

Be the change you want to see in the rest of the world.
And Last but not least is the golden rule in my home:
Always make sure the last thing you say to the person you love is just that “I love you” weither you are hanging up the phone, going to the store, going out in the yard or just going to bed. This kind of ties in with the first piece of advice…

I looooove the comment on leggings. I have said that myself many times!
When someone chooses to be mean to you, don’t make the same choice.

Very cool this book. The comment that I would send my kids to is paragraph 80: ” not everyone is going to like you, and it is just fine”.

Oh, I laughed out loud when I read “leggings are not pants.” I work with a girl who wears them as pants several times a week, with her shirts just barely covering the top of her butt. So uncomfortable and inappropriate in an office setting.

I don’t have a daughter, but I’m 31 weeks pregnant with our first son, and more than anything, I want him to be kind. So I guess the old “Treat others as you’d like to be treated” will be a big player! : )

I love stuff like this! I might buy some anyway! I don’t have daughters, I have sons, but I would tell anyone, child or adult – Never be afraid to try something new because you’re afraid you might not be good at it.

Get down on the floor with your kids and play! You will enjoy it, and they will remember it!
