a gift

I had this gift planned out for so long.  My friend’s birthday came and went, no present made.

Finally sat down with the perfect fabric selection (she loves turquoise and lime-y green) and cranked it out the other night.  I was really happy making this because I think it’s a really useful present, and I love useful things.  I know she’ll appreciate it because we eat lunch together a lot!

I love how it turned out and really want to make one for myself, it’s the perfect size bag for lunch!  and the little drawstring cover is just too cute

And to go along with the lunch bag I made a coffee cup cozy.  She had spied my first coffee cozy and asked me to make her one – so I did, just a few months later than planned.  Good things come to those who wait? Right?  Oh, and a little side note on the cozy, I wish I could say I totally planned the button going on the eye of the owl, but really, it was sort of a mistake and I made it work. Wahoo!
Hope you like it Lindsey.

i think the button on the eye is adorable! i know what you mean about good intentions, and then the day comes and goes, and then time passes. i got frames for my parents that said “mother of the bride” and “father of the bride” but i had to alter a vertical picture and crop it for a horizontal frame… lets just say that i still have them, and i just had my second anniversary in august…

i really like the drawstring on your bag!

Thanks for the tips Anna. Our violin/cello teacher loves coffee and I was thinking about looking for a coffee cozy pattern for her Christmas gift. Now I don’t have to look.
    Happy weekend.

what an awesome, awesome gift for your friend Anna! That little drawstring area on the top is fabulous! And perfect! And then you just HAD to go and use that text fabric, didn’t you? That sealed the deal for me!

What do they say, “the path to hell is paved with good intentions”? I’m in deep trouble if that’s the case! 🙂 But I think you’ll be fine on account of that bag! It would make even the most pedestrian of sandwiches rather posh 🙂 And I love the patchwork cosy – it looks fabulous! The owl’s eye is definitely one of those inspired coincidences.
