Chambray Sun Hat

Chambray Sun Hat - Noodlehead

I’ve been really trying to mark things off my summer sewing list in between trips to the pool, bike rides, and all the awesome summer activities around here. It’s hard! I mostly just want to play and by the time it gets dark out I’m so tired I can barely make sense of anything. The other night I decided it was time, I really needed a Sun Hat and I couldn’t put it off any longer. I’ve been looking at buying one, but once I saw this Creativebug class I knew it had to be made.

I’m so glad I did! I really like the way it turned out. The class was fun and it was such a quick project. I’ll make a few small tweaks for next time, but overall I think this is a great sew. I really like the fact that Ashley (the instructor) made the pattern for small, medium, and large size heads. It’s so nice to have that flexibility and to sew one that fits! I wore it on our canoe trip the other weekend and it was really nice to keep the sun off while being lightweight. Natalie likes to steal it from me so I’m sure there will be more in my future.

Are you a Creativebug fan? I am always so excited when they put new classes out. I love the way they format each class and I’ve got a long list of classes I still want to take. I think for the price you can’t really go wrong, plus I especially love checking out classes in areas other than sewing. I need to re watch the screen printing classes because it’s always so mesmerizing. Oh, and maybe some jewelry classes, too!

Anyway, hope you’re enjoying the last few weeks of summer? What summer projects are you making or have you made? I’d like to know!

Anna, I love your hat!! Love the denim, it looks great on you. I haven’t done a lot of sewing this summer-lots of playing going on here too! I’ve got rayon cut out for the sew along you did. Hoping to sew it up very soon!

Fabulous hat! I am of “Boho” age, and I actually supported my teenage self selling a hat like this through high school! Wish I had pictures! Sooo popular!

Well look at the pretty lady in the field of Queen Anne’s Lace! Love the hat, so summery. I feel like I’ve been getting back to my roots lately, lots of kid clothes, nothing too complicated. Shorts and swimsuits. It feels good!

  7. I love Creativebug! Inspired by Cal Patch’s pattern drafting, I’m making my own patterns and sewing my own wardrobe. I must try that hat, my mum has a small head and can never find hats to fit! Jenny
