Liberty Picnic Blouse

Liberty Picnic Blouse - sewn by Anna Graham

oh yeah! AΒ little bit of Liberty never hurt anyone, right? Well, I’ve actually felt guilty about having this cut sitting in my stash for a few years. I never could decide if it was a print I would actually wear or not and never was able to settle on what to make with it. So I pulled it out the other day and asked my girls if they liked it, they both said yes, but I was drawn to using this print for Emily. I always have seen her as looking so cute in blues whereas Natalie I love seeing in warm colors. Maybe I’m just making it up in my head, but I’m rolling with it.Liberty Picnic Blouse - sewn by Anna Graham

So the Picnic Blouse by Oliver + S is one I had picked up during their summer sale. I knew the blouse and shorts were always so cute, especially after seeing so many versions of the shorts pop up online. I knew I’d use them for my kids because shorts are always fun to sew up. So I traced out the Picnic Blouse, knowing it would be so perfect with the Liberty.Liberty Picnic Blouse - sewn by Anna Graham

It all went together so smoothly. I enjoyed taking my time and doing french seams. It turned out so cozy and cute. I did remember to cut the yoke facings out of a chambray, I love that little bit of detail. And I plan to make a little label for the back yoke so we can tell in a snap which is the front and back of the shirt. I just haven’t gotten to it yet, but soon!

I adjusted the sleeve so it’s a long sleeve instead of the 3/4 sleeve. I figured since it was still winter here it would be nice to have the full length sleeve. But I’m already plotting to make the 3/4 sleeve for a nice spring blouse! I’m glad I had Emily try on the blouse for when it was time to adjust the elastic at the shoulders. It was good to be able to adjust it to fit perfectly.Liberty Picnic Blouse - sewn by Anna Graham

Anyway, I definitely recommend this pattern if you have girls (or granddaughters, nieces, etc)!

I always thought it was silly to use Liberty for children’s clothes (since it’s kinf of expensive) but now that I have my own daughter, I want to make all the bloomers and bonnet in Liberty !

This blouse is no exception. I want to make it now !
