victoria blazer

I love this blazer, seriously so comfy. I’ve wanted a casual blazer for the long time. It seemed like every ready to wear one I tried had either crummy fabric or just didn’t seem to fit.  I stumbled on the Victoria Blazer pattern after Leila made hers and snapped up my copy of the pattern right away.

I used this Chambray and it is reallly soft and has such a nice drape.  I honestly ordered it thinking it would be fun to use on a bag, but totally didn’t notice the weight of the fabric.  I threw it in a pile hoping to come up with something to use it for someday. The lining is a pale peachy pink colored cotton voile/lawn. I purchased it after deciding to make the blazer.  I think it’s a great color that’s really going to work with a lot of other colors.

I made a size 6 US and was really naughty and didn’t make a muslin first.  The fit is lovely and I hope to wear it a lot this spring!  If you’re at all intimidated by the thought of making a blazer, think again!  This is so fun to sew.  And not complicated.  Plus, there’s a bunch of sew along blog posts right on the By Hand London blog.

Pattern: Victoria Blazer, By Hand London (US 6), no alterations
Fabrics: Small Herringbone Chambray Union by Robert Kaufman and Cambridge Lawn in Nude

oh it’s so pretty on you! blazers seem scary to me but it’s probably just because they take a bit longer than a simple t-shirt to sew. great in the chambray!

I love the blazer and the fabrics you chose and I immediately went to By hand, London to find out the pattern is sold out. I hope they reissue it because it looks like a great pattern to use again and again.
