Weekend Getaway Tunic

Did you guys see the new patterns by Liesel & Co.?  You know, the lovely sister company to Oliver + S?  Well, Liesel has put together some really lovely new women’s patterns and I think you’ll want to check them out.

I made the Weekend Getaway Blouse/Dress.  It’s got some really great details but isn’t over the top, and I love that.  I dug through my stash and found this shot cotton and thought it would make the perfect fall tunic.  Of course I didn’t have quite enough fabric to do the sleeves, but a quick pop into my local quilt shop took care of that.  Lucky for me they stock pretty much all the shot cottons and I was able to grab enough to complete the tunic.

If you’re just getting into sewing clothes for yourself I definitely recommend trying these patterns!  The others are just the same, very clear and super professional (of course!).  I’m happy to throw this on with a cute pair of leggings and a belt, I think it’s the perfect fall staple.  I think it would be so pretty in rayon too, I’m kind of obsessed with rayon now.  I like the tunic length for my preference, but the pattern comes with options for both a blouse and dress length.  I just like doing the layering thing, but it’s very easy to adjust to your preferences!

I omitted the pocket tabs, just felt like they weren’t something I wanted to incorporate.  But that’s the fun part of sewing, you can make things just how you want!

I was given an advance copy of this pattern to review, opinions and thoughts are mine though, just so you know!
