Sewing School

I was checking out some books from our local library online and figured we might have fun with this book: Sewing School: 21 Sewing Projects Kids Will Love to Make. Honestly, I thought I would bring it home, we’d look through it, then put it aside and never find time for actually making something.

Well, we had a few hours of fun last weekend and the girls were so jazzed about making these cute little projects.  Natalie picked out both projects, so I’m really happy she was excited.

Natalie read the instructions and they got to it!  I helped cut the white muslin and they picked out everything else.  I was surprised how good they were at stitching!  And for Emily being only 5 she did a great job with her ‘alligator’ as she calls it.  I only started the stitches for them and tied the final knot, but other than that it was all them!

It really was so fun to see them be so proud and happy about their finished projects!  More kids sewing needs to be done!

[The amazon link is an affiliate link, but I wouldn’t share it in this space if I didn’t recommend it, it’s definitely worth checking out!]

Oh how lovely and we have an old saying in Germany:
Der Apfel fällt nicht weit vom Stamm! The apple is not falling far from the tree.
    They have inherited your creativity!

Many hugs and a ♥ for the 2 girls

Those are really cool projects! Thanks for the tip, I intend to borrow the book from my library. Although your pictures are enough to get us sewing straight away!

  9. Great work, girls! Very cute.

My kids have shown a lot of interested in watching me sew and knit, so when I offered to teach them how to sew in the last school holidays, they were so excited! They were 3, 5 and 6 at the time. Here is a link to the final results, if you are interested…

It was enjoyable, but difficult, so it may just be a holiday event until they are old enough to do it all by themselves.

Just like us, well sewing is indeed one of the best way to make a great family bond specially with kids, having seen them smiling and having fun while doing the project really makes us feel worth it, isn’t it?
