Well, it looks like this might be my last trip through the old Project Sewn spin cycle. I really had fun putting this outfit together. I had a totally different idea at first, but then went with these three pieces:
Top:
Began with Deer & Doe Datura top. Changing the pattern pieces, I made one piece front/back bodice pieces. Added a placket, bias tape bound neck and arm holes. Shirt tail hem. Anna Maria Horner Field Study print in Rayon. I definitely need more of this rayon in my life!
Skirt:
I’ve made this one before, but i really wanted one in chambray. I also used every opportunity to include handmade details: pocket bags, facings with bound edge, hong kong finish on the back seam. Simplicity pattern 2226, which I’ve done a sew-a-long for, you can read about it here. [Chambray is Slub Chambray Light in Indigo by Robert Kaufman, purchased at Hawthorne Threads]
Cardigan:
This cardi started out based on a cardigan I already own. Used this lovely sweater knit. It’s soft and comfy, for me, the perfect cardi. Now I need more!
It’s been fun, and I’m tired! Now I wanna make quilts and bags and fun little things. I’ve really felt like this was such a positive opportunity for me though. I feel more confident in making clothes for me, especially when working on the fit. I know each of the things I’ve made so far have been ones I will wear again and again and I’m very happy with that. I love this outfit, Anna! Each piece in it is so beautiful and practical – it all looks fab together, but I’d totally split it up and wear each separate piece in different ways, too…great wardrobe builders. I love your “quieter” style, it’s lovely. 🙂

I love each of these pieces. I especially love that everything is so wearable and practical – but no less beautiful because of it. I agonise over the simpiest of blog posts – I can only imagine the thought and time that’s gone into each of these outfits. You should be so proud! I really loved this outfit (and voted for you)! You were the only one that really used a “graphic print” so you should win just for that alone. I loved all of the details you put in. Also really like the chambray you used for the skirt. Was that from Robert Kaufman’s line or something else?
