We love hot chocolate around here. Especially with marshmallows.
I had sketched out this silly little drawing the other day and intended to hand embroider it. However, no where around here carries an iron on transfer pen or pencil.
So I decided to try some free motion embroidery. You’ve probably seen it floating around here and there in blogland. Of course Aneela’s girl on a swing is so super cute and she gives a tutorial on how she made hers, so definitely go check it out. And here’s a flickr pool that’s dedicated to this creative combination.
Of course my first instinct would be to try and turn it into a pillow, but I resisted (barely) and decided it could be a mini wall hanging or mug rug.
I included little twill tape loops on the back for hanging, but who knows where it’ll end up – maybe a giveaway is in order?
it’s really really adorable! I love the sketchy drawing and stitching. And I love the brown and blue colors – too cute!
Absolutely LOVE this! I’ve been thinking about making some “mug rugs” for Christmas gifts, and the machine applique/embroidery would be a super-cute way to add a personal touch. I made Aneela’s girl on a tree swing mini quilt this summer and I just loved the process.
Give it to ME!!! that’s highly adorable–totally perfect for a mug rug 🙂
That is the cutest thing ever! Makes me want to make a mug of Hot Chocolate right now!

So sweet! I do wish I could quilt…my first attempt was a disaster. ugh. 😉
So very cute!!! I have been drinking hot cocoa every morning in lieu of coffee – as my preggo belly simply refuses the coffee – still need something to get me up and going! Lol, very cute mug rug 🙂

I think it would make a perfect mini hanging quilt.

I think you did a perfect job on this!!! My 4-year old just said how cute it was!! Maybe I will be the winner and she can hang it on our tree!! heehee
How cute! We are cocoa drinkers in this house. We are always up for new kinds, we’ve tried it with peanut butter, cherries, and my favorite coconut syrup.
Way cute “mug rug”. My grandchildren simply LOVE hot chocolate, and I can see them fighting over using this rug. Guess I will have to make a few more for the others.
Happy holidays and thanks for the opportunity to win one.

too cute! You can find the transfer pencils online if nothing else. but, I was able to find one at Walmart, and one at Joann’s, and several at sew and vac stores (you know stores that sell sewing machines and vaccumes).
Look online at first though that way you know what you are looking for. The people at the stores never know what you are talking about, with exception of the ladies at the sew and vac store!
