I told my friend that I would make her pillows a looong time ago. You know I can’t turn down a pillow making project.
We had fun going to my local quilt shop and doing some fabric shopping, and came away with a cute stack of modern fabrics.
Most of the fabrics are from Joel Dewberry’s Modern Meadow collection, with a little Amy Butler thrown in just to mix it up.
I sketched out a couple designs and went with it! Of course I did manage to make a slight measuring error on the king size pillow, forgot the measure twice cut once rule. Oh well, it turned out great anyway and no one is the wiser. 🙂
I love how using an invisible zipper makes pillows reversible, so there end of being tons of fun combinations. And now I think I know how to make a really durable and time tested pillow. Fully lined with muslin on both sides and serged edges, love how it gives it such a professional look.
ps. House on Hill Road is hosting a Pillow Challenge Week, so check it out!
So pretty! Love your color combinations!
loving the fabric choices! They look great together!
Love your choice of fabrics. You just can’t go wrong with anything from Joel Dewberry.
so cute! I’m using some of Joel Dewberry’s line for my living room/dining room. The colors are awesome!
Great pillows Anna! Maybe that is what I’ll do with my Modern Meadow!
I love the color combination… those greens, browns and blues…must get some nice fabric
Those pillows are so pretty! I love how they are reversible too. Great job!
I’m a pillow fanatic my husband is always saying to me why do we have so many pillows? 🙂

These are really cute Anna! Love the color combos!
Hoping to get a new couch soon so I’ll have to come back here for throw pillow ideas 🙂
What quilt shops do you like going to in the Twin Cities?
Love these colors. The patterns work so well together… I never could have put those together! The modern designs are so visually interesting. Love how each one is a little different.
Wow, that is a ton of work! You are a great friend! These pillows look fantastic.
Love the color/fabric combinations!
Pillows pillows everywhere! Everyone is making them at the moment, including me. I do love yours very much. Such lovely styles and very nice fabric choices. Perhaps I should draw a plan before I leap into things sometimes!! My last attempt is rather boring looking.
i love the fabric that you used.
I really love these, Anna! Modern Meadow, I think, is my favorite line from this year.
Beautiful!!! You know I love me some Modern Meadow 😉 I’m sure your friend is ecstatic!
Ohhh, love the fabric choices and the pillows turned out fabulous! Great job as per usual my dear.
The fabric combinations are stunning. Making cushions is always an option I overlook when sewing, I need to move it to the top of my ‘to make’ list – thank you for the inspiration!
Nice! I’ve got some pillows to do as well and was going to just use the fabric as-is but perhaps I need to get a little more interesting with them! I hadn’t thought of using invisible zippers – perhaps I need to bite the bullet and learn to put them in! And using muslin – do you just sew it into the seam with the outer fabric or have it separate and joined at the zipper?
Just like everyone else I love the fabric, colours and combinations. Making your own cushions/pillows really shows off the fabrics and makes your decor unique…love them!
Love the fabrics you used for those pillows!! Your friend is lucky to have a friend like you who can make something very special like these!
So beautiful Anna! Those pillows are so peaceful looking – great fabric combos and designs.

They look awesome. I always love the look of the long pillows.
Lucky friend! Why do they need to be lined with muslin?
Gorgeous! Love the fabrics and design you put together.
You really have a knack for color choices. Beautiful Anna!
very pretty Anna! isn’t that modern meadow so wonderful??
Great pillows. Love the fabric with the trees on it!
ok, this is exactly what I was envisioning in my head with some Joel Dewberry fabrics I’ve got pillow plans for. I was just having a hard time conveying my concept to my husband -he’s finally on board now, ha! thanks! Lovely work!
Wow. These are so beautiful!
