pincushion sampler platter

I had joined the Pincushion Pass wayyy back when.  With the looming deadline, I finally got inspired by all the cute pincushions in the flickr pool.  Especially the minis by chickenfoot!  Aren’t they cute?!  I think the pastel-ish color palette I used makes these look like candy.

Definitely could not make up my mind which style I wanted to try out first, so I figured, why not try them all?  Hope my partner will enjoy them.

I think they’d be fun kept together on the cool dish, or if she wants, she can separate them.

I scaled the pattern pieces down to 85% so that it would flow with the other pincushions.   And I made the top piece patchwork as well.

Using a 5 inch diameter circle.

Also wanted to sneak in this super mini pincushion that kind of happened by accident.  I just wanted to try out Creative Kismet’s tutorial, but made the circle diameter 3 inches across instead of 6, and it is small!

Don’t you just want to reach out and take a bite out of them?

  1. Oh Anna, those are adorable!! Serious eye candy! They are each just so cute and perfect. I have Heather Bailey’s pin cushion pattern (the one with the pear, apple, and tomato) sitting on my sewing table as we speak. I never seem to get around to making them, but you just may have given me the push I needed. Great job!!

Oh those are so cute. They look like Candy! I want to eat one.

  13. Anna, those are really cute!! I love how they are displayed on a dish. I don’t really use a pin cushion. What you’ve created may be the incentive I need! Even when pins don’t really make it back in the container and somehow find their way to the floor.
